I’m Gail, a teacher who has been given an opportunity to teach in Japan. I’ve worked hard for this chance, and I’m raising help for the journey there.
Campaign Story
Thank you for taking a few moments to read my story.
Writing this is one of the hardest things I've had to do, not because I don't believe in my dream, but because asking for help has never come easily to me. I've always believed in working hard, doing everything I can for myself, and trusting that God will open the right doors at the right time.
Today, I'm choosing to ask because I have reached a point where I can't take the final steps alone.
Teaching has never been just a career to me. It has always been my calling.
I became a Foundation Phase teacher because I believe that some of life's most important moments happen in a classroom. A child who learns to believe in themselves, discovers the joy of reading, or realises that they are capable of more than they imagined carries those moments for the rest of their life. Being part of that journey is a privilege I have never taken for granted.
Over the years, I have dedicated myself to preparing for this calling. I completed my Bachelor of Education, continued developing my skills through additional training, and had the privilege of teaching young learners. Every step strengthened my conviction that this is where I am meant to be.
Recently, after many applications, interviews, lesson demonstrations, and months of waiting, I received an incredible opportunity to teach in Japan.
When I received the news, I was overwhelmed with gratitude.
It wasn't simply a job offer.
It was confirmation that years of hard work, perseverance, and hope had led to something meaningful.
This opportunity represents far more than travelling overseas. It is the beginning of the future I have been working towards for years—a future where I can continue growing as an educator, build stability, support my family, experience another culture, and eventually use what I learn to invest in the lives of even more children.
Like many international opportunities, however, accepting it comes with significant upfront costs. Travel, visa-related expenses, documentation, accommodation setup, and the practical costs of relocating all have to be covered before I can begin.
I have done everything I can to make this dream possible.
I have saved where I could. I have researched every option available to me. I have reached out to organisations, foundations, churches, mentors, and individuals for advice and guidance. I have written countless emails, not expecting anyone to rescue me, but hoping that someone might point me towards the next door to knock on.
I truly believe that opportunities are built through both hard work and the kindness of others.
If you've found your way to this page, perhaps you are one of those people.
Whether you choose to give or simply share my campaign with someone else, every act of kindness brings me one step closer to standing in a classroom where I can do what I love most: teach.
If you're unable to contribute financially, I completely understand. Your prayers, your encouragement, and even sharing this campaign with others would mean just as much to me.
One promise I want to make is this:
If I'm given the opportunity to begin this new chapter, I won't forget the people who helped me get there.
I'll continue sharing this journey with you. I hope that, together, we'll be able to look back and say that this dream became possible because a community of people believed in one teacher and the difference she hopes to make.
Thank you for reading my story.
Thank you for believing that small acts of kindness can change someone's life.
And thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for becoming part of mine.
