Empowering Women to Lead Nigeria's Digital Revolution" aims to equip participants with essential technical skills, foster leadership qualities, and build a supportive community

Campaign Story

Every day, thousands of Nigerian women and girls are excluded from opportunities in the digital economy simply because they lack access to technology training and digital skills. While Nigeria's technology sector continues to expand rapidly, women hold fewer than one-third of ICT-related roles, leaving many unable to benefit from emerging employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. For women in underserved communities, the challenge is even greater due to limited access to training, mentorship, internet connectivity, and digital devices.

According to the Nigerian technology ecosystem and global gender-gap reports, women account for approximately 22–30% of the technology workforce in Nigeria, with even lower representation in technical and leadership roles (National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Digital Economy and ICT Workforce reports barriers such as limited access to devices, low digital literacy, socio-cultural constraints, and economic inequality, which continue to widen the gender digital divide.

"I wanted to work in technology, but I had never touched a computer before joining the training program," recalls Amina, a young woman who later became a freelance graphic designer after completing an ICT skills course. Her story reflects the untapped potential of countless women whose futures could be transformed through access to digital education.

The need for intervention is immediate. Without targeted action, women and girls' risk being left further behind as the world becomes increasingly digital. This project seeks to bridge that gap by equipping women and girls with practical ICT, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship skills that will increase their employability, income-generating opportunities, and participation in Nigeria's digital economy.

This leverages the strengths of the organizations to foster women-led digital transformation, innovation, and economic empowerment across Nigeria.

The program gave me confidence, skills, and opportunities I never thought possible."
